The department of Transportation (DOT) is required to submit to drug and alcohol testing programs to maintain safety and security in the workplace. Read more to find out your requirements.
Our DOT consortium helps to ensure compliance by offering the following:
Participating in a pre-employment DOT urine drug test is part of maintaining DOT compliance for all safety sensitive jobs. This test is performed before a safety-sensitive employee is hired.
Because a random pool of one cannot exist, safety-sensitive employees are required to participate in a random dot urine drug testing pool. When a company with safety-sensitive employees joins a DOT consortium, as C/TPA, we act as your liaison and notify you when you have been selected for a random drug test or a drug test and alcohol test.
Owner operators are required to register in and use the clearing house. The owner operator must designate a C/TPA in the Clearinghouse. The C/TPA will assist the employer with meeting their query and violation reporting requirements.
Commercial drivers must obtain a DOT physical every 2 years. A physical is required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), ensuring that commercial drivers and other safety-sensitive employees are in good health to work safely.
Ia used to test employees involved in accidents that occurred on-the-job or on company premises. If it appears that drug or alcohol use contributed to the accident, this test helps to confirm. DOT urine drug test should ONLY be used if the driver is deemed to be at fault.
RTD testing should only be performed after a worker has violated the drug and alcohol program by receiving a positive result. Follow-up testing is performed and is only completed if the employee tests negative for drugs on the return-to-duty test and returns to their position.
